Here’s the first in a new series we’re trying out called 10 Second Tips.
Enjoy!
We’re going into iPhoto pretty heavily this month, and here’s a great tip on reducing the amount of time iPhoto takes to launch.
Check this out.
Launch iPhoto, and see how long it takes to open. It’s pretty fast, but will vary depending on the speed of your computer, RAM etc.
Quit iPhoto.
Now, go to your Applications folder and click once on iPhoto to highlight it. Now go up to the File Menu and select Get Info.
A window will pop up displaying all sorts of nifty information about iPhoto. Scroll down until you see the word Languages. Click on the little triangle to the left of the word Languages to open that menu up.
Now DE-Select every language except for the ones you care about. For me, I’ve only left English selected. Once you’ve done this, close this window and launch iPhoto again.
WOW!

That’s a great tip – it works!
ROCK ON!!! These are the kind of tips I’m looking for. Thank you SO much! Great job, and keep’m coming!
Holy Crap! I didn’t even know that was there! LOL!
So just for S&G, I tried the same on iTunes and it had an equally impressive result! (hope I didn’t just blow another 10 second tip for you!)
Thanks Chris!
Cool tip Chris!
Now we need a small script that scans the apps folder, and automatically does that for each relevant application (iPhoto, iTunes, etc) that will benefit. Applescripters, anybody? I donate the name “TurboBoot” to whoever codes it first.
