We build new websites using CMS platforms whenever possible. CMS stands for Content Management System, and the primary benefit of a CMS is that the site owner can update content and add new pages by themselves. Nowadays, we build almost exclusively on WordPress, using the excellent Thesis framework.
For traditional, static HTML websites, the day inevitably arrives when the time and labor costs associated with regular updates and maintenance lead to the decision to tear down and rebuild something new. There’s no better time than this to also revisit your overall design. If the last design work was done 2-3 years ago (or longer!) chances are, your site feels a bit outmoded. Of course, this is to your advantage if you’re going for “retro.” If you’re not intentionally recalling the days of old in your site presentation, however, now’s the time to have your look and feel updated.
Remember, your site is in most cases your business’ public face. If it feels outmoded to you, you can bet your bottom dollar that it feels outmoded to your customers.
Here’s the resign Pausha did for Amanda McBroom, when Amanda needed to replace her existing site with something more current. Amanda’s requests were “make it fresh.” Here are some examples. Click on any image to view larger.
